Partnering to implement large projects and programs seems to be the norm. When you agree with an organization to partner on a proposal that may lead to an eventual project, the first step is often signing a Teaming Agreement to set out some basic understandings.
In one popular 2011 Annual Meeting session on Teaming Agreements, Alan Ring, Director of Grants and Contracts of the Population Council – and InsideNGO trainer – discussed how Teaming Agreements are used, common elements, what they most often include, and issues of confidentiality especially around intellectual property. He also touched on Pre-Teaming Agreements – an agreement to partner if and when an expected request for proposal or application is released. Session attendees received a sample Pre-Teaming Agreement, a sample Teaming Agreement, and a Sample Confidentiality Letter.
