New UK Foreign Secretary and Minister for Development apponted with encouraging move to put Development Minister back in Cabinet

There is a slightly optimistic note being struck in the appointments being made by Liz Truss, the new UK Prime Minister. She has appointed Vicky Ford as Minister of State in charge of Development, which  puts a Development Minister back in cabinet for the first time since DFID was merged into the FCDO.

James Cleverly has been appointed Foreign Secretary. The profile below that Devex did on James Cleverly is an informative read.

Its also a notable moment that none of the key ministerial positions in this UK government are now held by white men - which is a first.

    Best wishes

    Tim
