Subawards Management

Subawards

A subaward is a legal instrument between two organizations (the "pass-through entity or prime recipient" and "subrecipient / subawardee") that delegates a portion of the work undertaken in a project. A subaward is a mechanism that can be used for assistance (subgrant or subagreement) or acquisition (subcontract).

The granting and management of subawards is one of the main vehicles of international development.  The performance of subawards can determine the success or failure of a program and is one method of bringing development to the grassroots level.
